Being engaged is a very exciting experience and having an engagement session is the perfect way to celebrate this part of your life. Having an engagement session is the perfect type of practice before the wedding day. As a photographer I want the process to be as seamless as it can be. Therefore, having this time for me to work with you and having you practice posing together is essential. It will also give me an idea of what your tastes are as well. During an engagement session you will learn how to trust me. My relationship with my clients is built on trust. My clients will learn to see that I understand them and that this understanding will allow for me to make them look fantastic in their photographs. This is exactly how the business of taking great photos works.
An engagement session is nothing but fun! Having engagement photos taken is a perfect way to enjoy each other and get away from the stress of planning a wedding. What is even better is that the photos from this session can be used for save the date cards, guests books, and any other pre-wedding items that you may need or want.
There are a lot of women who don’t know what a bridal session is all about. This is a session that involves only the bride and takes place (in most cases) before the wedding day. Bridal sessions are very laid back and you don’t have to feel stressed or rushed like you might on your wedding day. The best time to have a bridal session is after you have your hair and makeup trial. This gives your wedding collection a cohesive look.
HOW DO WE BOOK?
For portrait sessions I suggest getting in touch with me at least two months prior to your desired session date. For weddings I am available as early as one month in advance but you should ideally book me as soon as you have confirmed your venue, but at least six months prior to the wedding. To book your session please get in touch!
Once you have booked your session a contract will be signed and your non refundable retainer will need to be paid. Your session retainer is transferable for up to three months if you need to reschedule our session due to illness etc. (forfeit if not given forty-eight hours notice prior to your session). The remaining balance is due before or at the time of the session.
HOW CAN WE PAY & DO YOU OFFER PAYMENT PLANS
I accept cash, PayPal, e-transfers and credit cards via the Square reader. For wedding collections and product orders over $300 I offer interest free payment plans.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO GET OUR PHOTOS?
For portrait sessions you will receive a proofing gallery of unedited proofs for you to choose your photos within two days of your session. If you do not receive an email to your proofing gallery please return to the home page and select the ‘Client Galleries’ tab. Once you have chosen the final photos for me to edit and deliver you I will get started on editing and the final images will be delivered within fourteen days after your selection has been made. I understand that you will me anxiously awaiting your photos so I will send you a gallery of up to ten images to share with your friends and family until your gallery and products are ready to be delivered.
WILL YOU TRAVEL?
All sessions include travel within the Fraser Valley, anything outside of these boundaries are subject to a travel fee and accommodations for locations three hours outside of Chilliwack, BC. At this time I am unable to travel outside of British Columbia for a wedding due to two young children at home, but I hope to travel in the near future.
WHY DOES WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY HAVE TO BE CONTINUOUS?
For a variety of reasons, we have to charge for the time in between events. The fact is that we are never truly resting during the day, whether backing up images, setting up for the second venue, traveling to the second location, taking venue shots, or making up for lost photo time because of wedding day delays. In many cases we use that “downtime” to take you and your significant other out for a photo session or do more family portraits.
WHAT DO WE WEAR AND WHAT ABOUT MY MAKEUP?
When you are trying to decide on the perfect outfit for your portrait session there are a few things to keep in mind.
- The location of your session.
- The time of year your session is taking place in.
- Where you plan to display your portraits.
I have a few tips to help you choose the right outfit for you and your family. Start by choosing a colour scheme. Once you have complimentary colors start by choosing one persons outfit and coordinate the rest of the family’s outfits. I suggest avoiding colours that will blend into the background, avoid wearing neon colours, avoid too many bold patterns or prints, try and avoid logos on your clothing, wear comfortable and appropriate footwear for your portrait venue, layer and accessorize and last but not least wear clothing that you are comfortable in! Professional makeup application can often be arranged with enough notice starting at $100.
